Rudy Ortiz

Raul “Rudy” Torres Ortiz, 58, of Grandview passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 24th, 2012. Rudy was born April 14th, 1953 in Mercedes, Texas to Jesus and Angelina Torres Ortiz. He married Dana Aguirre Ortiz on the 21st of January in 1977, in Sunnyside, WA. Dana and Rudy were married for great 35 wonderful years. Rudy attended Sunnyside Schools and later graduated from Perry Tech in 1975. He was a truck driver for LTI of Sunnyside for 17 years. When he wasn’t working his favorite pastimes were watching western movies, with John Wayne and working on his cars. He cherished time visiting his mother and family, listing to the oldies and taking road trips. Rudy was a member of the Classic Knights Mopar Car Club. Rudy was a wonderful husband and son. He was the best father, a caring and generous brother, and a great uncle and friend. He was very proud of his family and his children thought the world of him. He will be forever missed. Rudy is survived by his wife Dana of Grandview, WA, son Nicholas Oritz (Jennifer) of Battleground, WA. Two daughters, Jennafer Gautreaux (Austin) of Redmond, WA and Jessica Gowan(Brandon) of Grandview, WA; one grandson he adored, “Baby Austin.” He is also survived by his mother, Angelina Ortiz of Sunnyside, WA. Brothers: Larry Ortiz of Grandview, Rene Ortiz and Jaime Ortiz of Sunnyside, and Michael Ortiz (Maryanne) of Yakima, WA. Sisters: Lupe Richardson of Grandview, Rosie Courtier of Lynnwood, Olivia Cruz (Jesse) of Kennewick, Ilda Robles (Ruben) of Sunnyside and Maggie Murray of Grandview and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jesus Ortiz. Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, WA. Burial will be in the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.
