Robert  (Bob) H. Juris

Robert (Bob) H. Juris age 82, longtime Roosevelt, Washington rancher climbed his last Mountain on Friday, February 1, 2013. Bob was proud to be a grandson of Slovakian and Finland Immigrant’s. He was born on December 21, 1930 in Cle Elum, WA, the son of George and Weino (Saari) Juris. Bob graduated with the Bickleton High School Class of 1949 and later from WSU in 1954. He was named one of eight distinguished members of the ROTC Program. While serving his country in the United States Air Force Bob was stationed in Korea. Following honorable discharge, he returned to Bickleton for one year before leasing and later purchasing a place in Roosevelt where he was a wheat and cattle rancher. On December 16, 1959 he married Beverly Mains in Goldendale, WA. Bob and Bev continued to make their home in Roosevelt enjoying family, friends and raising wheat and cattle. He enjoyed life to the fullest, hunting, fishing, hiking, digging clams and gardening. He was also a private pilot; his flights took him on many adventures. He was a master story teller and always had a good joke to share. Bob served on the Roosevelt School Board for 48 years, he also was a member of the Roosevelt Fire Department, Goldendale American Legion #116, 50 year Grange and Masonic Lodge Member, Member of Washington State Wheat Growers and Washington State Cattleman Association. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Bev Juris of Roosevelt. One son, Alan Juris (Tammy) of Spokane, WA and Elaine Juris Enwards (Dave) of Goldendale, WA; five grandchildren, Bailey, Brooklynn and A.J. Juris and Tessa and Jace Enwards. He is also survived by one brother, Tom Juris (Helen) of Bickleton, WA. Three brother-in-laws Bill Mains (Lynn) and Ron Mains (Faye) all of Bickleton and Tom Mains (Cindy) of Mabton and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Weino Juris. A Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Sunnyside, WA. Burial will follow at the Bickleton I.O.O. F. Cemetery with military honors. Those wishing to honor Bob’s memory may contribute to the Alder Creek Pioneer Association.
