Gonzalo R. Ovalle, age 82, of Sunnyside, WA, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Yakima, WA. Gonzalo was born on January 1, 1931 in Progresso Coahuila, Mexico the son of Francisco and Ricarda (Rodriguez) Ovalle. He attended school in Mexico. On September 23, 1960 he married Rosa Elena Rios in Sunnyside, WA. Gonzalo worked as a farm laborer for various farms in the valley including McIntyre and Woodworth Farms. He enjoyed raising farm animals, especially chickens, ducks, goats, pigs and cows. Gonzalo also loved tending to his garden. He cherished time spent with his family and grandchildren. He attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sunnyside. Gonzalo is survived by his wife, Rosa Elena Ovalle of Sunnyside, WA. Five children Silvia Ann Ovalle of Yakima, Sammuel Ovalle (Vae) of Seattle, Silda Ann Preciado of Union Gap, Rosa Maria Ovalle and Frances Ovalle both of Sunnyside. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Ricarda and one son, Serigo Ovalle. Viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA.
