Angel Lopez Jr.

November 20, 1968 ~ July 19, 2017 (age 48) 48 Years Old

Angel “Wedo” Lopez, Jr.

November 20, 1968 – July 19, 2017

Angel Lopez, Jr. of Mabton, Washington passed at his home in Yakima on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. He was 48. Angel’s life would seem short to many, but he lives eternally through those who were touched by his larger-than-life personality and infectious smile.

He was born on November 20, 1968, in Sunnyside, WA. He was the oldest child and only son of the late Angel Lopez Sr. [October 1, 1949 – November 23, 1993] and Anna (Lopez) Desmarais of Mabton, WA. In 1987, Angel joined the U.S. Army and served with the 347 Infantry.

Affectionately known as Wedo by his family, he was an amazing chef, an avid sports lover, and a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan.  He was a badass bartender, and an even better friend. When it came to sports, he was always right; he was the defending champion of his fantasy football league and proudly displayed his championship belt in the center of his living room.

Angel had love for many people, especially his children. Famously sarcastic and humorous, he handed these qualities down to his daughter, Crysalyn Rae Lopez, a witty character in her own right. Angel’s love for music, sports, and beautiful women lives on with his son, Angel Lopez III. He also loved his shoe collection, a spotless house and car, late night snacks, trivia, all things basketball, good company, and good drinks.

Angel was renowned for his knack of telling it how it is, his exuding confidence, his secret recipes, and his infectious laugh. He was an unapologetic know it all and a self-proclaimed smartass. He was generous to a fault, a softy at heart, and yet he sugar-coated absolutely nothing. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many friends, neighbors, and family members.

Preceding Angel in death was his father Angel Lopez, Sr. He leaves behind his children Angel Lopez III and Crysalyn Rae Lopez, his mother Anna Desmarais, his sisters Serina Lopez and Melodie Griffin, and his granddaughter Nia Lynnae Lopez.
