Clara A. Riel

Clara Alice Riel age 86 of Sunnyside, WA passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2017 in Grandview, WA.  Clara was born April 11, 1930 in Selfridge, North Dakota the daughter of Frank and Marian (Krumm) Hoffert. Clara received her education from Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Moxee, WA.  She married Irvin Riel on June 20, 1950 at the Holy Rosary Catholic church in Moxee, WA.  At a very young age Clara worked in the hop fields and then worked as a cashier until she retired. Clara loved cooking, she was a fabulous cook. She cherished time spent with her grandkids and great grandkids.  Clara attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser, WA. The family would like to thank Clara’s caregiver Laura Rodriguez who did a wonderful job and her granddaughter Danielle for all her long hours she helped with, both girls are greatly appreciated.

Clara is survived by her children; Brenda Winchel (Mark) of Sunnyside, WA., Debbie Miller (Doug) of Raymond, WA., Jim Riel of Yakima, WA., Kenny Riel of Prosser, WA. and Steve Riel of Graham, WA. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Marian Hoffert, husband Irvin Riel, daughter Lynda Riel, sisters Irene Hoffert, Helen Ward and  brother Harry Hoffert.

Viewing and visitation will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 from 9:00 a.m.  until the time of service at 11:00am  at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Moxee, WA.  Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Moxee, WA. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to a nursing home of your choice.
