Clifford Wayne Covert, age 79 of Grandview, WA passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 in Prosser, WA.  Clifford was born on August 15, 1935 in Lockwood, MO the son of John N. and Flossie B. (Solmon) Covert. He was a proud hardworking employee of the Safeway Juice Plant in Grandview, WA for 35 years. He still wore his hat proudly almost every day. Clifford enjoyed life to the fullest. He lived every day to help others and had the biggest smile and kindest most genuine heart. He loved is wife Joyce with all of his heart, affectionately calling each other “Dear and Honey”. They would go on trips, ride motorcycles and snowmobiles together and they loved spending time with their children, grandchildren and friends always together. Showing the family all the cool things within driving distance, they didn’t fly. Loaded up the van and we they were off!  He enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee and the 10-4 Café each week to catch up on the latest. One of his greatest loves was sports. Watching the Mariners, win or lose, watching the Seahawks Win a Super bowl was definitely a highlight. He enjoyed watching with his grandson Noah.  He rarely ever got angry, however I think he’d have a thing or two to say to Howard Schultz, he never got over the Sonics leaving. J  He also LOVED finding wood and chopping it up for the winter. Such a handsome man, cleaned up very nice and was mostly seen in his go to outfit, overalls and either a Grateful dead, Mariners, or Seahawks T-shirt. That was Cliff. He was a jack of all trades. He loved working on cars. He could fix anything. Especially the lives of everyone he touched. He’d never turn his back on another human. He was loved and cherished my so many and will never be forgotten. He has left his family with the most important tools, Love, Caring, Compassion, Hope, Integrity, Kindness and Truth. A real man and the best model of how to live your life. He will be forever in the hearts of all who met him even just once.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Reva Joyce Covert of Grandview, WA. One son John Covert (Michelle) of Prosser, WA, Two daughters Sheree Nichols of Kennewick, WA and Trudy Lewis of Prosser, WA. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Chris Reaves (Morgan) of Portland OR, Mandy Nichols Of Seattle WA, Noah Nichols of Grandview WA, Kimberly Meinecke (Kyle) Of Kennewick WA Angela Garcia (Glen) of Prosser WA, John Covert Jr, Jessica Covert, And Robert Covert All of Prosser WA, Who affectionately knew him as “Papa”, 8 great grandchildren and one sister, Aileen Nedrow of Lake Chelan, WA.  He is preceded in death his parents, grandson Shawn Nichols, 4 brothers Jay, Robert, Kenneth and Jackie.
