Darrel Lee Massey

Darrel Lee Massey age 79 of Grandview, WA. went to be with his loving Savior on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 in Sunnyside, WA. Darrel was born on January 22, 1937 in Garrison, North Dakota to Joseph and Pauline (House) Massey. Darrel received his early education in Toledo, WA. graduating with the high school class of 1955.  In 1955 he enlisted in the United States Army and served for four years during his service he spent time overseas in Greenland. In 1959 he met and married the love of his life Linda Arlene Hibbard. The couple was married at Arlene’s parents home in Grandview, WA. on December 19, 1959. The couple made their home in Ephrata, WA. where Darrel worked for Sun Basin Lumber Co. The couple moved a few times in following years to Quincy and Goldendale. In 1970 Darrel and Arlene settled down in Grandview, WA. where he started his career as a Bee Keeper. Darrel enjoyed fishing, gardening flowers and vegetables, camping and spending time with his beloved family. He was a member of the Central Washington Bee Keepers Association and the Washington State Bee Keepers Association and also a devote member of the Grandview Community Church of God.

Darrel is survived by his loving wife Arlene Massey of Grandview, WA. his children Dawn and husband Tim Abrahamson of Renton, WA. Sherrie and Husband Gary Schloss of Grandview, WA. and Dan and wife Laura Massey of Grandview, WA. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and siblings Don Massey, Fay Flagg, Jay Massey, Joe Massey, Clayton Massey, Bob Massey, Doug Massey and Kathy Roloff. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Pauline Massey and siblings Bernice Walz, Wayne Massey, Gary Massey and George Massey.  Memorials in Darrel’s name can be given to Extra Mile Student Center, 206 West 2nd Street, Grandview, WA. 98930.

Viewing and visitation will held on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Grandview, WA. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Grandview, WA. with burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery, Grandview, WA with Military Honors.
