David James Drake

David James Drake age 45, of Grandview passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, October 7, 2016. David was born July 19, 1971 in Yakima, WA where he became the beloved son of James and Barbara (Portlock) Drake. He was raised in the Portland, OR. area where he graduated from Beaverton High School. David continued his education at the University of Oregon, where he played football for the Ducks. He later moved with his family to Blaine, WA. While he was in Blaine he worked with his father doing landscaping. After his father’s death David continued with the family business for many years. David met the love of his life Brianne Ware in 2004 and they married April 8, 2006. They made Grandview their home. David was a “jack of all trades”. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. It didn’t matter what it was, if he didn’t know how to fix something he would educate himself via the internet. Sometimes his fixes didn’t work but he gave his all. He always had good intentions, because he had such a huge heart.  David was also an avid sports fanatic, having played football, baseball, basketball and some hockey in his younger days. But he loved any sport, especially his precious Oregon Ducks! He could be heard yelling at the TV when his Ducks were playing. David also loved his Seahawks, Bears and the Mariners. David was also a collector of Star wars memorabilia, acquiring quite a collection.

David is survived by his loving wife Brianne Drake of Grandview and his precious dog Lucky. He is also survived by his in-laws Aurora (Leslie) Crone of Grandview, Mark (Jeannie) Ware of Prosser, brother Jeff (Kim) and sister Peggy both of Oregon, brother in-law Brian Ware of Grandview and Uncle Joe Portlock of Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Barbara Drake.
