Florence Van Biezen

Florence Van Biezen, age 91, longtime Sunnyside resident went to be in the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 9, 2018 in Sunnyside, WA.    Florence was born on April 29, 1926 in Zillah, WA the daughter of Albert and Rosie (Oord) Duim.  She received her education in Sunnyside and graduated with the Sunnyside High School Class of 1945. Florence worked for Boyd Olofson and Sunnyside Stationary Store. On August 31, 1968 she married William Van Biezen in Sunnyside. Florence loved to sew, embroidery, create latch hook wall hanging and help her husband, William in doing finish carpentry work. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and little giggle. Florence was a member of the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church and she spent many hours cutting perfectly cut squares for the many quilts that were sent for missionary work. 

Florence is survived by one sister, Doris Folkerts, of Union Gap, WA.  Step-son Clifford Van Biezen (Barbara) of Boston, Step-daughter Elaine Greydanus (Conrad) of Modesto, CA .  Three brothers Wilbur Duim, (Margaret) of Sunnyside, WA, Alfred Duim (Louise) of Selah, WA, Dennis Duim (Linda) and Sister-in-law Marie Duim all of Sunnyside, WA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Florence is preceded in death by her husband William Van Biezen in 1996, son William “Billy” Van Biezen in 1978, two brothers Garrett Duim and Art Duim and one sister Alberta Eshuis.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  at the Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA.  Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA.  Celebration of Life Service on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunnyside Christian Reformed Church Sunnyside, WA.  Those wishing to sign Florence's online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com  Smith Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
