Glenn Officer fell asleep in Jesus Thursday, December 1st, 2016. Glenn was born March 27th, 1923 in Vancouver, WA to Glenn and Elsie Officer, the oldest of 5 children. Glenn worked at Kaiser Shipyards in Vancouver, WA as a crane operator; where he would meet the love of his life, Delia Bickford. Glenn and Delia were married in 1944 and settled in Hazel Dell WA. From the shipyards he and his brothers started a family sawmill business. He would go on to work for the city of Longview then the city of Auburn in the engineering and accounting departments. In 1981, Glenn and Delia moved to the Lower Yakima Valley, where they chose to remain.
Glenn loved playing pinochle with his brothers and any other willing party. He had a sweet tooth in general, but especially loved ice cream. Glenn and Delia enjoyed gardening and bird watching, as well as rock collecting. He was a home team loyalist who loved to watch the Mariners, Seahawks, and Super Sonics. (Family members still talk about the time he was mistaken for a Sonics team member at the community celebration to welcome home the team.) In his younger years, he was quite an athlete from baseball to basketball to volleyball to bowling. A man of few words, Glenn had a quiet, but steadfast faith that he passed on to his family.
He is survived by four children: son Keith and wife Janet, of Sunnyside, WA; son Warren and wife Vickie, of Port Orchard, WA; son Barry and wife Debbie, of Inchelium, WA; and daughter Karen (Chase), of Sunnyside, WA. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delia; his parents; son, Russ; brothers Charles (Chuck) and Ernie; sisters, Elnora and Norma Jean; two granddaughters Tina and Lisa; nieces, Susan and Louise; and nephew Bobby.
