James E. Zeigler, Sr. passed away at the age of 74. He reported for his final duty station in heaven on Sunday October 16,2016. He was born Dec 3, 1941, and raised in Rulo, NE to Gerald W. and Lucille E. (Baudentistel) Zeigler. They proceeded him in death along with both brothers, Ben and David. He was the oldest of five children. He attended school in Rulo to 8th grade, then in 1957, attended Reserve High school and graduated with the class of 1961. Jim was drafted into the Army in February 1964 and got out in 1966. After working several jobs in and around Rulo, he re-enlisted in March of 1973, and retired as a Sergeant First Class, in April 1993. Jim was stationed in Okinawa, Ft. Lewis, twice, Germany, twice, Korea and Ft. Sill, OK. He loved being in the Army and didn’t want to retire. Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, gardening and watching movies at home. He loved to sit outside and watch the wild life in the yard including birds, squirrels, and rabbits. He was a member of the Am Vets post 3733 and of the Lower Valley Honor Guard where he served honorably and enjoyably for several years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Peggy L. (Prather) Zeigler, they would have celebrated 41 years of marriage in November. Daughter, Anne (Zeigler) Royle (Mike), son James, (Jenny). He has six grandkids, Shelby, Brandon, Matricia, Harley, Dakota and Hunter. And one great granddaughter, Jade and one on the way. His sisters, Dorothy and Connie, of Falls City, NE. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. When in heaven, he will make sure you’re fed and coffee is ready. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of the following charities, Heartlinks Hospice, American Cancer Society, or Am Vets.Org. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
