Jimmy Liao age 83 of Sunnyside, WA passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Sunnyside, WA. Jimmy was born September 6, 1934 in Kwong Tung, China the son of Tso-Sing and Wai-Fong (Liang) Liao. Jimmy received his education and graduated from high school in Hong Kong. In 1955 his parents brought the whole family to the United States, settling in New York. Jimmy was educated at Indiana Tech. College studying aeronautic engineering but he lost interest in that field. Jimmy ran a towing business in New York before moving to Sunnyside, WA. Jimmy co-owned China Grove in Sunnyside, WA. In 1993 he met the love of his life, Debbie Johnson, when she was a hostess at his restaurant. They became a couple in March of 1999. Jimmy enjoyed playing pool at the V.F.W., traveling and going to the Casino to play pai gow poker. He also loved spending time with the granddaughters and Debbie. Jimmy was a member of the V.F.W.
Jimmy is survived by his love Debbie Johnson of Sunnyside, WA, children Julian Liao (Rieko) of Japan, Heather Hazzard (Nathan) of Sunnyside, WA and Eric Johnson (Katie) of Mabton, WA, Grandchildren Katelyn Hazzard, Summer Hazzard, Bailey Hazzard and Jemma Johnson and one great grandson on the way Riker Floyd. He is also survived by siblings Irene Y. Ly and her husband Chuck of New York, Lolo Young and her husband Kenny of New York, Sirene Lin of Tennessee and Joe Liao of Nevada. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm at Outlook Cemetery, Outlook, WA.
