John "Tony" Anthony Carpino

John “Tony” Anthony Carpino passed away peacefully on September 26th, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the oldest of four boys, born to John and Wilma (Grant) Carpino on September 30, 1948, in Pittsburgh, Kansas. He moved to Sunnyside, Washington at the age of 3. Growing up, he lived and worked on his parents’ Flying Star Ranch. He graduated from Sunnyside High School in 1967. He went on to mechanic school in Grandview, and finished his degree. Tony was drafted into the Army, and served two years in Korea. He married Jeanne Valdez on August 18, 1975. They had a happy and fruitful marriage, having two sons, Joshua and Jared. Tony lived a life full of excitement and adventure. When he left the military, be began playing and touring in a band with The Carpino Brothers and other bands. During his time with the bands, he traveled all over the country, and Canada, playing in various cities and venues. The stories he loved to share with those around him were from his time spent as the lead guitarist and vocalist. When he started having a family, Tony began his contracting business in Grandview, WA. He spent the next 39 years raising his family. Tony was the pillar of strength and love to his wife, sons, daughters in-law and extended family. He considered himself to be a rich man in faith and love.Tony enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing the guitar. The thing he loved most of all was spending time with his family. He was a devout member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; sons and daughters in-law, Joshua and Charity, and Jared and Rebecca; Mother in-law, Mary Valdez; three brothers and sisters in-law, Dwayne, Michael and Laurel, and Greg and Suzie; and 16 nieces and nephews. Tony is preceded in death by his parents, John and Wilma; father in-law, Robert Valdez; and his best friend Jim Harris.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, WA with burial to follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA.  Those wishing to sign Tony’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com .
