Joy E. Duggan

Joy Ellen Duggan passed away on June 23, 2016 in Goldendale, WA. She was born April 11, 1951 in Gronwohld, Germany, and was the adopted beloved daughter of Roy and Florence (Mason) VanNostern and joined her two older siblings Dean and Don VanNostern on the family ranch in Bickleton, WA at the age of 5 years old. Joy is survived by her husband Daniel Duggan, her brothers Dean (Barbara) VanNostern, Don VanNostern, Nephew Michael (Ricki) VanNostern, and Grand Nephew’s Maclain and Mason VanNostern. She is also survived by step children Brenda Duggan, Casey (Kea) Duggan and granddaughter Lydia Duggan.

Joy graduated from Bickleton High School and went on to attend Berkley in California and earned her master’s degree in Biology and Chemistry. She then came back to Washington and enrolled at Gonzaga University School of Law and earned her Juris Doctor degree. She had a passion for her chosen career field and worked briefly in the criminal prosecution field but spent a majority of her career in private practice as a criminal defense attorney and in family law.

She had a passion for many things in her life and spent many hours with her horses, attending rodeos and fairs, watching ice skating events, sewing,  traveling, reading murder mystery novels and collecting snoopy and horse memorabilia.

A memorial service will be held at the Bickleton Evangelical Community Church on July 09, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with graveside services immediately following at the Cleveland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Bickleton Evangelical Community Church after graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alder Creek Pioneer Association.
