Juan  “Chapo” Rodriguez Jr., age 66, of Mabton, WA went to be in the arms of His Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Yakima, WA.  Chapo was born on January 24, 1950 in Edinburg, Texas the son of San Juanita De La Cruz Reyes and Juan Rodriguez Sr.  He received his elementary education at Farias Elementary School in Alamo, Texas.  Chapo worked for Del Monte in Toppenish, WA 40 years as a contractor for the Del Monte Camps in Mabton, WA and as a combine operator during the pea and corn harvest.  He served his country honorably in the United States Navy.  He enjoyed exploring new places with the love of his life, which he referred to as Mi Corazon.  Together they often spent time traveling to Portland, going to the casino and just enjoying each other’s company.  He was a very respected man, dedicating his life to his family. Chapo cherished many hours of playing Chinese checkers with his kids and grandkids.   He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas Longhorn fan, he also loved listening to music.  Chapo was an active member of the Catholic Church in both Immaculate Concepcion  Catholic Church in Mabton and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, WA. 

He is survived by his wife, Maria Rodriguez of Mabton, WA. Children Arnulfo Rodriguez (Rachell), Norberto Rodriguez (Nancy), Estefana Rodriguez (Juan) and Yuri Rodriguez (Adam).  Chapo is also survived by fourteen  grandchildren and two great grandchildren with one on the way.  Siblings Martha Balderas of Alvin, Texas, Pilar Sanchez of Taft, CA, Lucy Hernandez of Boardman, OR, Ines Rodriguez of Irrigon, OR, Jim, Fernando, Noe, Rolando, Lourdes, and Rodrigo Rodriguez all of Boardman, OR.  He is preceded in death his father, Juan Rodriguez Sr., Mother San Juanita De La Cruz Rodriguez, Son Juan Rodriguez III and numerous, aunts, uncles and cousins.  

Viewing and visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM with a Military Honors Service at 5:00 PM  followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, WA.
