Marilea Rose McNerney, age 79, of Sunnyside, WA passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2017 at the Sunnyside Prestige Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Omak, WA on October 23, 1937, the second of three children born to George and Mable Covey. Marilea went to elementary school at Malaga Grade School.
Ardell C. McNerney and Marilea R. Covey married on December 19, 1953 (63 years) and spent most of their lives in the Wenatchee area. They had six children; Sonny C. McNerney (1955), Terry G McNerney (1957), Lonnie E. McNerney (1958), Sherry R. McNerney (1960), Korina J. McNerney (1962), and Clifford R. McNerney (1965).
During her lifetime, Marilea was a full-time homemaker, wife, mother of six, grandmother of thirteen, and great-grandmother of sixteen (with another on the way). The love and care of her family absorbed her every minute. She truly enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her hobbies included sewing, cross-stitch and garage-saling. She loved camping with her family and RVing with her husband. Marilea was an active member of her church and a faithful, born-again Christian.
Marilea is survived by her husband, Ardell of Sun Terrace, Sunnyside; sister, Lorella Vaughn of Arkansas; sons, Sonny, Lonnie and Cliff from Sunnyside, WA and Terry of the Philippines; daughter, Korina Jarvis from Ellensburg; daughter-in-laws, Roxanne, Theresa, and Mary; and son-in-law, Wayne Johnson, as well as her thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harvey Covey and daughter, Sherry R. Johnson.
In Honor of Marilea, a viewing will be Saturday, August 5, 2017, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Neighborhood Assembly of God Church, 385 East Allen Road, Sunnyside, WA. Her Funeral Service will be held after the viewing, at 11:00 am, followed by a family luncheon.
