Orlando Patina Sr.

December 5, 1970 ~ September 17, 2017 (age 46) 46 Years Old


Orlando “Nano” Patiña SR., of Walla Walla, passed away on September 17, 2017, at St. Mary Medical Center, Walla Walla, WA surrounded and comforted by his loving family. Nano fought a 6 year battle with repetitive and devastating strokes losing to a 4th and final battle. He was 46. 

Nano was born on December 5, 1970 in Sunnyside, WA to Jo Jesus Gonzalez Jr. and Janie Patiña. He grew up and attended schools in Sunnyside, where he live the majority of his life. He valued family as he and his brothers are part of a very large extended family. On October 5th, 1992, Orlando married Miss Kimberly Mallula in Sunnyside, WA. 

Nano loved animals, and as a child, dogs had the tendency to “follow” him home. He was gifted in the art of dance and did so with beautiful skill. He and his cousins and friends would show and compete in the art of Breakdancing throughout the region. Nano also possessed the ability to fix and adapt things in a most simple way with what was at hand. He earned the nickname of MacGyver.

Nano was an avid and life long Dallas Cowboys fan. He would call family members especially his Grandma Patiña to remind them of game time.  

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Walla Walla, WA 

Orlando is survived by his children; Orlando Patiña Jr of Sunnyside, Zchavonna Dahlin of Walla Walla, and Mikyla Guillen of Yakima, WA. His siblings; Alex Patiña and Henry Lopez of Sunnyside, Rebecca Marie Gonzalez Solis of Roy, UT, Richard, Jesse, and David Gonzalez of Tremonton, UT, Steven Longoria, and Anthony Hartsteen of Hermiston, OR His mother Janie P Lopez and his grandmother Elvira G Patiña of Sunnyside, WA. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and many cousins.   

Orlando was preceded in death by his father Jo Jesus Gonzalez, his grandparents; Florentino Patiña, Dorina Nabor and Jesus Gonzalez. His aunt Eufemia “Mia” Patiña Rios, uncles Ambrocio Patiña I, Jose Ramon Patiña, Ambrocio Patiña II, Alfonso Gonzales, Joseph Hector Gonzalez, and Rafael Gonzalez.

Viewing and Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 12:30-3:30 PM with a Celebration of Life Service from 3:30-4:30 PM at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA. with a reception to follow at 5:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2000 East Lincoln, Sunnyside, WA.
