Rhelda Ilene Wallace, age 73, entered the gates of Praise on Friday, July 28, 2017.  In her words, she is running and jumping in Glory and experiencing Heaven without the handicaps of arthritis, blisters and pain.

She leaves Eldon (Wally) Wallace, her husband of 54 years, her daughter Christine Holmgren, son Gregory Wallace and his fiancé Traci Levesque, and grandsons Trevor and Dee Wallace, along with granddaughter Jenny Spencer and her children.

She will also be missed by her sisters Sherry Van Eaton and Patricia Wallace, nephews, nieces, and many cousins and friends.  Greeting her in Heaven are her parents, Ralph and Theora Fagan, beloved Aunt Zelpha Anderson, grandparents Justus and Olive Henderson, and several aunts and uncles.

Ilene was born in Enterprise, OR on November 24, 1943, and lived there with her parents and sisters until the family moved to Walla Walla, WA in 1944. When she was in the 3rd grade, the family moved to Prosser, WA.

Ilene and Wally were married on November 10, 1962 and moved to San Antonio, TX where Wally was stationed at Kelly Air Force Base. They returned to the Pacific Northwest in 1965.  After spending a brief time in Portland, OR, they purchased a 40-acre farm near Grandview, WA. In 2005, Wally and Ilene retired and moved to Prosser, WA. While Ilene held several jobs outside the home, her greatest career was being a wife and mother. Ilene was a member of the Grandview Church of the Nazarene, enjoyed many years of riding with Wally on their Goldwing motorcycle and was an avid bowler.

The family held a private graveside service on August 2, 2017.  A celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 4, 2017 at 2 PM at Grandview Church of the Nazarene.  At Ilene’s wish, the gathering of friends and family is to celebrate her release from the bounds of this life to a heavenly welcome from Jesus and her Father in Heaven.  In her words, I won’t die, but just go to sleep and wake up in Heaven.

Memorial contributions may be made payable to PGR of WA State (Patriot Guard Riders of Washington State) 29212 SE 371st St. Enumclaw, WA 98022. Those wishing to sign Rhelda’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com Smith Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
