Ruth Wilson passed away on Thursday, December 29th, 2016 at Pruitt Healthcare in Estill, SC, at the age of 97.

Ruth Ann Wilson was born on April 28th, 1919, in Grandview, Washington. She was the only child of George and Anna Wininger. Ruth had two sisters, and a brother, from her mother’s previous marriage, which left her widowed.

In 1941 on the sixth of July, Ruth married Norman E. Wilson, her high school sweetheart in Ellensburg, Washington.  They lived an interesting and adventurous life, all over the United States. Ruth worked briefly outside the home prior to Norman’s service in the U.S. Navy during WWII and during his active duty. Upon his return home to their farm on the Rosa in Prosser, Washington, Ruth assisted Norman with the operations of the farm and oversaw the day to day activities of running their farm while Norman also worked full time at the Hanford Nuclear site. Upon their retirement from farming and Norman’s service to Hanford, they left Washington for the states of; Nevada, New Mexico and Connecticut where Norman continued to work as a Health Physicist in the nuclear field until his full retirement in the early 90s due to Parkinson’s Disease.

Ruth was a homemaker, mother to their daughter Nancy and was active in many women’s organizations. Ruth was especially devoted to her faith and active in the Lutheran church, wherever they might reside.

Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy in 1995 and her husband Norman in 2002; her parents George and Annie Wininger, her two sisters Myrtle Newby of California, Hazel Stewart of Ellensburg and her brother Neal Ritchie of Ellensburg.

Survivors include granddaughter and grandson in-law, Susanne and Blaine Williamson and great grandchildren, Hailey and Forrest Williamson of Barnwell, South Carolina. She also leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews.

Ruth’s body will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery, Grandview Washington next to her beloved husband Norman and daughter Nancy.
