Tomas G. Marichalar

August 11, 1933 ~ September 30, 2015 (age 82) 82 Years Old


Tomas Marichalar, age 82, of Sunnyside, WA went to be with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on September 30, 2015 in Sunnyside, WA.  He was born on Aug. 11, 1933 in Brownsville, Texas the son of Modesto and Guadalupe (Godoy) Marichalar.  Tomas has lived seventy years in the Lower Valley and was a Hyster Drive at Lamb Weston for many years.  Tomas grew various vegetables in his garden, loved harvesting them and making his homemade salsa. He enjoyed music and cherished time spent with his family.   He is survived by six children Joey Marichalar of Yakima, Roger Marichalar of Mexico, Gracie Marichalar,  David Marichalar, Lou Marichalar and Connie Marichalar all of Arizona. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Danny Bootsma, Skyy Bootsma, Krysta Marichalar, Alyssa Marichalar, Colton Marichalar, Emerson Birk, four great grandchildren, one brother, Frank Marichalar of Sunnyside, WA and three sisters Isabel Gonzalez of San Antonio, TX, Mary Resendez (Ignacio), Lupe Barajas Haddox (Glen) all of Sunnyside, WA and  a brother-in-law Joe Garza and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Modesto and Guadalupe Marichalar, six sisters, Fidela Rodriguez, Victoria Garza, Aurora Cantu, Margie Lozano, Irma Marichalar and Carmen Marichalar and one brother, Abelardo “ Lalo” Marichalar.  The family would like to thank all the physicians, nurses, care givers and staff at Prestige Care, Sunnyside Community Hospital and North Star Lodge. A special thank you to Lori Guizar and family, Health Care provider Rosa for the years of love and care to Uncle Tomas.   Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, WA.
