Pastor Waldo (Wally) H. Smith, age 95, went to be in the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Wally was born on April 25, 1922 in North Platte, Nebraska the son of Emma (Burch) and Elmer L. Smith. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps for one year. Wally served in the United States Marines from December 1941 to December of 1945 fought as a Corporal in the combat Zone for 2 years and 1month during WWII and South Pacific Theater. On January 17, 1945 Wally married the love of his life Leona L. Miller, this January they would have celebrated their 73rd Wedding Anniversary. Wally also served in the United States Army from May 1946 to May 1962 retiring as a Master Sgt. E7. Wally entered full-time ministry in 1969, pastoring churches in Arizona and Nebraska. In 1973 he and Leona moved to the Tri-City area pastoring the Benton City Assembly of God Church from 1973 to 1984.
Wally is survived by his wife of 72 years, Leona Smith of Grandview, WA. One daughter Gaii M. Smith (Radach) and huband Jerry of Grandview, WA. One son Stanley H. Smith and wife Linda of Benton City, WA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Benton City Assembly of God Church, 41901 N. River Rd. Benton City, WA 99320.
