Darryl Zane Wilson, 83, of Sunnyside WA, passed away on April 13, 2024. He was born in Yakima, WA on September 26, 1940. He was the oldest of 5 boys born to Harold and Irene (Shay) Wilson. Zane was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Zane graduated the 8th grade and began to work with his family in the orchards. He served in the army from 1963-1969 and then returned to working in the orchards and proceeded to hold numerous jobs, including Vern’s Gas Station, Rusk Turkey Ranch, Bleyhl Farm Service, and many local warehouses. He retired from Holtzinger’s Fruit as a forklift driver.
On June 17, 1964, Zane married Joyce Snyder. They lived most of their lives in Sunnyside, raising their three daughters and helping care for their grandchildren. They were married for 49 years when Joyce passed away in 2013. She remained the love of his life.
In his free time, he enjoyed watching old westerns on tv, raising cattle, and tending his garden. Even after scaling back his garden, he continued to grow tomatoes. He always had more than he could use and loved to share them with friends and neighbors. One of his favorite snacks was a peanut butter and tomato sandwich, made with the tomatoes he grew.
Zane is survived by his daughters: Crystal (Steve) Case, Corrina Wilson, and Zandra Wilson; his grandchildren: Michael Case, Cody Case, Logan Case, Jared Case, Samantha (Alex) Diaz, Erin Stanton, Jamie Stanton, and Joey Stanton; and his great-grandchildren: Jaxon and EmmaLynn Case, Wyatt and Jade Case, Kamila and Leo Diaz, and Braxton Baker; and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents Harold and Irene, his brothers Dwight, Micheal, Patrick, and Jean Wilson, and great-granddaughter Joy Case.
