Jose Gonzales

Jose Gonzales, 92, peacefully went home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Dessert Wind Gardens in Kennewick, WA. “Papa Joe” was surrounded by his daughters Martha & Olga along with Granddaughters Mindy, Mallory and Crystal and Great grandchildren Mackenzie and Damian. He was born on November 1, 1931, in San Ysidro Ranch, TX, to Jose and Juana Gonzales.

 In 1956 Jose and Juanita were united in marriage at Lubbock, TX and together moved to California. Then they moved Washington and became proud resident of Sunnyside, in 1969 where he and his wife Janita called the “Ranchito” their permanent home for them and their 7 children. He was a hard farm worker that provided for his family.

 His hobbies were raising horses, pigs, cows, ducks, and chickens. He enjoyed BBQ and last-minute adventures to California. He also loved spending all his extra spare time with his 2 brothers Ramon and Chon.

He is proceeded in death by wife Juanita T. Gonzales, Daughter Ofelia Castilleja, Son Conrad Gonzales, Parents Jose and Juana Gonzales, Siblings Guadalupe, Rafeal, Filberto, Maria Guadalupe and Maria De Jesus, Granddaughter Christina Castilleja, Great Grandsons Jose Carlos Gonzales, Mathais Jace Saldana and Baby Bean.

He is survived by sons Jose Gonzales Jr, Hector (Linda) Gonzales, Daughters Martha (Marcos) Saldana, Norma Linda Gonzales, Olga (Rosendo) Perez, (Irma), 10 Granddaughters, 9 Grandsons, 53 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Great Great-Grandchildren. Siblings Ramon (Martha) Gonzalez, Chon (Estella) Gonzalez, Valeria Gonzales, Paula Gonzales, Maria Del Luz Gonzales, Juanita Gonzales, Sulema (Apache) Gonzales.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.  Burial will be at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA.  Those wishing to sign Jose's online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com    Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
