Ramiro Segovia (September 3, 1955 - April 19, 2024)
Ramiro Segovia, age 68, of Grandview passed away on April 19,2024, after a 6 month courageous battle with leukemia. Ramiro was born on September 3, 1955; he was preceded in death by his father Gregorio Segovia, mother Josefina Segovia and brother Oscar Garcia.
In his youth, Ramiro worked as a migrant worker, journeying through states such as Wisconsin, Washington, Michigan, Texas, and Arizona. Despite the challenges he faced, Ramiro pursued education and graduated from Grandview High School. His passion for education continued into his career where he actively worked to ensure equitable educational opportunities for migrant families in the Pacific Northwest.
A gifted athlete, Ramiro was renowned for his prowess in track and field, setting numerous records that stood the test of time. His dedication and passion for the sport inspired many and left an indelible mark on his community.
Ramiro is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Segovia, son Ramiro Jr. (Sharon) Segovia, daughter Crystal (Gabriel) Reyes, granddaughters Kaylani,Phoenix, and Niyah Reyes, stepson Jacob Noyes, stepson John (Brianne) Noyes, granddaughters Alexis and Mackenzie Noyes, his siblings Alicia Garcia, Elida (Florentino) Valenzuela, Richard (Janie) Segovia, Carol (Fidel) Ibarra, Lydia (Frank) Caballero, Yolanda (Robert) Garcia, Dalia Candanoza, Olga Segovia (Giovanni Ferdico), Elma Segovia and a host of extended family members and friends.
Ramiro will be fondly remembered for his resilience, kindness, and steadfast spirit. He leaves behind cherished memories, a legacy of determination that will continue to inspire those who knew him and an unwavering love for the Dallas Cowboys.
In honoring his memory, a memorial viewing and visitation will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. with family service to start at 6:30 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside Washington. Graveside service will be Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandview Cemetery, in Grandview, Washington.
