Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Angelica Maria Galindo, age 49, went to be in the arms of her beloved Savior on Monday, December 31, 2019 in Yakima, WA. Angelica was born on August 22, 1969 in Coalcoman, Mich, Mexico the daughter of Anna Maria Contreras and Ponciano Gomez. Angelica received her education in Sunnyside, WA and graduated with the Class of 1989. On August 11, 1990 she married the love of her life Martin Galindo in Sunnyside, WA. Following their marriage Martin and Angelica moved to Grandview, WA and raised three children. Angelica attended Yakima Valley Community College where she earned a nursing degree. She worked for Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital on the 5th floor for eighteen years and due to her failing health was forced to retire. Angelica was a member and also taught Religious Education Classes at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, WA. She loved to travel, cook, bake, sew, knit and embroidery, but most of all she cherished her family and was delighted in preparing for family gathering and holiday celebrations.
Angelica is survived by her loving husband, Martin Galindo of Grandview, WA. Three children Eduardo Galindo, Cecilia Galindo and Isaac Galindo all of Grandview, WA. Her parents, Anna Maria Contreras of Sunnyside, WA and Ponciano Gomez of Sunnyside, WA. Five sisters Rosalinda Rosales (David) of Outlook, WA, Alida Gomez, Sara Alvarez (Jose) and Estrella Gomez all of Sunnyside, WA, Josefina Gomez (Leonardo) Grandview, WA. Three brothers Artemio Gomez of Sunnyside, WA, Rigoberto Contreras of Portland, OR and Jose Tapia (Veronica) of Seattle, WA. She is preceded in death by her Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Santos Gomez and one uncle Santos Gomez. Angelica is also preceded in death by two canine companions a Dachshund, Rocco and an English Springer Spaniel, Bree.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Grandview, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, WA. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.
