We were neighbors with Art and his family for about 40 years, beginning in 1971 when we purchased a house and small orchard that was bordered on two sides by the Moritz orchard. We knew nothing about raising apples. Art must have wondered what he had done to deserve such an uninformed neighbor, but he treated us well, answered our questions, showed us how to do things, laughed with us when he saw some of our mistakes, cheered for us when we'd get something right. Over time we became acquainted with his six fine sons, people we still count good friends. What a privalege to have lived next door to Art and his family for all those years. In later years, watching the boys take excellent care of their Dad, keeping him comfortable in his home until the end, just thrilled us. God bless you for all your kindnesses and good deeds. Art will be missed and our lives will be poorer for his passing.

Remembering Art and missing him at the same time.

The many weekend and holiday visits I so enjoyed over many years, even Christmas - no doubt getting a ride from one of the boys from Seattle and back.

The card games Art hated to lose, Caren and Tony singing after a barbecue on a July 4th - many of us listening around the fire pit on that evening, still seeing Art and his dog walk his familiar walk across the patio out into the orchard - not working, of course, celebrating Jim's 50th, Art's 90th, and so much and many more.

I am grateful and thankful for all the times I was able to spend with this splendid family - and this wonderful man.

I reside at 1001 Division Rd. Zillah which I understand is where your family lived. My husband passed away suddenly last fall, He always wanted to visit with Arthur. I love this place but I will soon not be able to take care of it alone,

So very sorry to hear of Art's passing. I hadn't seen him for so many years, but I have fond childhood memories of playing at their house. Walking that oiled road between my grandmother's home and Art and Virginia's. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. But I'm happy that you had so many great years with your father.

To the Moritz boys and family.
What a wonderful life your dear dad had. I remember his 100th birthday party. Mom was so excited. She said she had never known anyone who lived to be 100. He was so proud of all of you and the men you grew to be. Art was truly a family man and a welcoming host. His work in the industry will continue through the wisdom he imparted to his boys who worked along side him as well as his neighbors and friends. I can't be there Friday but will lift a glass in Arts honor .
God Bless all of you,
Trish and girls

My condolences to the Moritz family. I've know the Moritz family all my life, having grown up on the farm next to them. We went to Mass in Toppenish, shared rides to Sunday school for many years with Art's family. Art served as my sponsor for the sacrament of Confirmation. Jim & I rode the bus together to Yakima Central Catholic High School. Art's ability to share his life experiences has always amazed me, I loved hearing his farming stories. I spoke with Art at Cherry harvest 2016, he wondered if it would be his last. Art, you were a special man to me & my family. Rest in peace my friend.
