Casimira A. Torres, age 92, longtime Sunnyside resident died Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Cottage in the Meadow, Yakima, WA. Casimira A. Torres was born March 4, 1926 at San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico to Simon and Martina Hernandez Aguilar. She spent her early years in Mexico. In August of 1944 she married Juan Torres Gutierrez in San Felipe, Guanajuato, Mexico. In 1954 Casimira and Juan and their family moved to Santa Maria, Texas then in 1957 moved to Sunnyside, WA. Her husband Juan died June 11, 1989 and following his death she continued to make her home in Sunnyside until the time of her death. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Sunnyside, WA.
Casimira is survived by 3 children Sergio Torres of Reseda, CA, Herminia Gomez and Juan of Sunnyside, WA and Carmen T. Alcaraz and Fermin of Grandview, WA. 7 Grandchildren including Maria Madrigal and Armando of Sunnyside, WA and 17 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother all making their home in Texas.
Viewing and Visitation will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary being at 6:00 PM in Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Sunnyside, WA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sunnyside, WA. Burial will follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA.
