Christine Reihs

Christine Reihs age 89 of Sunnyside, WA passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 in Sunnyside, WA. She was born December 23, 1928 in Wishek, North Dakota the daughter of Henry and Eva (Hochhalter) Wiest. Christine graduated from Sunnyside High School with the class of 1947.  On March 1, 1952 Christine married the love of her life John Reihs in Sunnyside, WA. Christine worked alongside her husband as the secretary for his automotive shop “Johnny’s Service Station” for many years. In the fall of 1981 and spring of 1982 Christine took classes in Principal Accounting at Yakima Valley Community College. Christine enjoyed gardening, crocheting and making quilts for all the grandchildren. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Sunnyside, WA.

Christine is survived by four boys Timothy Reihs (Minerva), Gregory Reihs, Jeffrey Reihs and Paul Reihs, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Ida Farra, Ernastine Beck, two brothers Calvin Wiest, Emanuel Wiest and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband John Reihs, parents Henry and Eva Wiest, three sisters Hilda Merkel, Milbina Ashcraft, Mary Anderson, five brothers Alfred Wiest, August Wiest, Gerherd Wiest, Oscar Wiest and Edgar Wiest.

Viewing and visitation will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside, WA. Graveside Service will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 9:00 am at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA.
