DALE CORNFORTH FINLEY

Dale C. Finley of Kennewick, Washington passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 with some of his many loved ones by his side. Dale was born September 19th, 1936 in Reno, Nevada and grew up in Sacramento, California. Dale’s life was rich and long. He was described by all who knew him as a man of honor, integrity and dedication. He was a great friend to all. Dale was a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 51 years. He helped many people find a better path for their lives. Dale was a retired Software Engineer. He was proud to be on the cutting edge of the computer industry and work for companies such as Logicon, ICL England, OTI and Microsoft, just to name a few.  He was a substitute teacher in math and science when he retired. Dale loved to have fun with his family and friends. He enjoyed snow skiing, surfing, kayaking, scuba diving, bicycling, running (4 marathons), traveling, watching movies and reading. He played the saxophone, piano, harmonica, ukulele, and trombone. Dale was preceded by his parents, Austin and Ruth Finley, his wife, Faye Davis Finley, and his grandson, Jeffrey Scott Naylor. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Kendra Finley, his girlfriend of 10 years, Peggy Stevens; his children and their spouses, Teri and Eric Pesce, Dave and Linda Finley, Lynn Chakey, Sue and Kent Smith, Tim and Deidre Harrison, Brian and Lisa Harrison, and Scott Harrison. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. As Dale said in his last days, “I had a really good run”. A celebration of Dale’s life will be held on Saturday, October 14th at the home of Kent and Sue Smith. Email kentsuesmith@charter.net for details.
