Darrell Clampitt Obituary

Darrell G. Clampitt, age 77, longtime Sunnyside resident went to be in the arms of his Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 16, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on December 7, 1940 in Glenns Ferry, Idaho the son of Violet (Young) and Clifford Clampitt.  Darrell received his education in Sunnyside and graduated with the Class of 1960.  He then began his military duty serving in the United States Navy for four years and the reserves for two years. On September 27, 1965 he married the love of his life, Kay Bridger at Coeur D’Alene, Idaho.  Darrell was a welder and took pride in his work and loved his profession.   In his younger years Darrell enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid bowler.  He and Kay spent many hours watching grandchildren participate in all sporting events.  Darrell was Head Trustee and Manager of the Sunnyside Eagle’s Lodge 2927 for 12 years and  Past Commander of the Sunnyside AM Vets.  

Darrell is survived by his wife, Kay Clampitt of Sunnyside, WA.  One daughter, Deadean Fox (Bobby) and David Clampitt (Jennifer) all of Sunnyside, WA.  Five grandchildren Dustin Fox, Nikki Alcala, Justin Alcala, Dylan Clampitt and Samantha Clampitt.  Two great grandchildren Kellee jo Fox and Dj Fox.  Sister-in-law  Betty Johns of Sunnyside, WA, one brother Franklin Clampitt, half sister, Melba Jean Willard and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents Violet and Clifford Clampitt and one brother Robert Clampitt.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA.  Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.  with Military Honors at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA.   Those wishing to sign Darrell’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com   Smith Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
