Forrest "Lyle" Wandling

Forrest “Lyle” Wandling, age 93 of Mabton, WA, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2018 in Sunnyside, WA. Lyle was born in Mabton, WA on June 22, 1925 the son of Forrest and Flora Wandling. He attended elementary school at the Alderdale School in the Glade area and graduated from Mabton High School in 1943. Lyle married Donna J. Daughtery on April 25, 1946; they were married for 54 years.

Lyle is survived by his two daughters, Lyla J. Wandling of Mabton, WA and Crystal J. LeClercq of Murphys, CA; one grandchild, Marchelle D. Purdy of Mabton, WA, four great grandchildren, Andrew A. Torres (Debbie), Desiree M. Purdy, Brandon R. Purdy and Rochelle D. Hernandez, four great-great grandchildren, Kiara Torres, Anthony Torres, Jesus Torres and Bella Purdy. He is also survived by his brother James L. “Pat” Wandling (Joanna), cousins, nieces, nephews and the rest of his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Donna Wandling; his parents, Forrest and Flora Wandling; two infant children, Forrest Glen and Della Dee Wandling; his brother and sister-in-law, Earl Wandling (Barbara); and his sister, Lola Coughlin.

Lyle’s family would like to say a heartfelt “Thank You” to Heartlinks Hospice and Palliative Care’s staff, as well as Just Like Home’s staff for their compassionate care provided to their father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, July 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla, WA alongside his wife.
