Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Margaret Rodriguez went to be in the arms of her heavenly father on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Seattle, WA, surrounded by her family. Margaret was born on August 15, 1934 in Dallas, Texas the daughter of Juan and Librada (Vasquez) Hernandez. Margaret spent her early years traveling throughout the U.S. for seasonal work. She married Manuel Rodriguez November 28, 1955 in Toppenish, WA. Margaret had five children. In 1978, she was employed with EPIC Child Development Center for nine years as an infant teacher and also a pre-school Teacher Assistant. She loved children. Then she decided to open her own home daycare center. Several years later, she became a foster grandparent with EPIC Head Start. After retiring, she enjoyed staying home gardening and cooking for her family. Margaret was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Toppenish, WA.
Margaret is survived by her husband Manuel Rodriguez of Toppenish, WA, children Elida Ojeda, Yolanda Sauceda (Raul), Manuel Rodriguez all of Toppenish, WA, Mary Almon (Brett) of Yakima, WA and Lucinda Rodriguez (Thomas Murry) of Seattle, WA, nine grandchildren Rosemary Gomez (Miguel), Margaret Ojeda, Angelica Clark (Chris), Maria Sauceda (Ricky Hamilton), Raul Sauceda Jr., Renia Almon-Griffin (Connor), Andrew Almon (Courtney), Adam Vasquez (Devin), Marcus Smith (Selah) and four great grandchildren Claire Gomez, Hugo Gomez, Caine Gomez and Naya Clark. She is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Librada Hernandez, brothers Ramiro Hernandez, Morris Hernandez, Fauster Hernandez and sister Juana Rojas.
Viewing and visitation will be held Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with recitation of Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Toppenish, WA with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Toppenish, WA.
