Maria Mejia Obituary

Maria Carmen (Ruelas) Mejia passed away May 30, 2018 in Post Falls, Idaho.  She fought a long hard battle with her illnesses.  For those who knew her, her doctors included, were always amazed by her strong determination to live.  Carmen was a cancer survivor four times.  She loved her family, loved to dance, and  loved her casino time.  She was born July 12, 1947 in Mercedes, TX, to Ruben and Angelita Ruelas.  Formally from Grandview then Othello, her last few years were lived in Kennewick, WA.  She married Guadalupe S. Mejia and had four children, Lucy Mejia of Kennewick, Guadalupe R. Mejia (Sarah), of Marysville, Lori Mejia Vargas (Pedro) of Moses Lake, and Luis Mejia (Deliliah) of Kennewick, WA, she had 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Siblings are Ruben Ruelas, Jr of E. Wenatchee, Elma Perez (Nat), of Grandview, Rudy Ruelas (Diana) of Kennewick, and Ramiro Ruelas (Betty) of Sunnyside, WA.  Maria Carmen reunited at the gates of heaven with her parent’s Ruben and Angelita Ruelas, her sister Sara Mata and brothers Richard Ruelas and Robert Ruelas.

Viewing and visitation will be held Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with recitation of Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Grandview, WA. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview, WA with burial to follow at Grandview Cemetery in Grandview, WA.
