Mary Williams Obituary

Mary Sybil Williams (Mom) passed away peacefully at her home in Grandview Washington on January 6, 2019. She was surrounded by loved ones as she locked arms with Jesus, leaving her mortal body behind to soar on wings like eagles.  Mom was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Lee Williams, her eldest son Dell Lee Williams, grandson Christopher Lee Williams, great grandson Garrett Thomas Underland; Mother and father Milton and Nora Conley, brothers John Conley, Edger Conley, Pat Conley and sister Lou Malzahn.  Although she made her home in the lower valley for over 50 years, she was born in Hugo Oklahoma and yearned to return to her roots. The eldest daughter of 8 brothers and sisters mom shared many memories of her life in Oklahoma and  expressed gratitude for the life her parents provided,  love for her brothers and sisters, and the fun they had on the farm doing their chores, milking cows, hitching a team of horses to a wagon and churning butter to name a few. She eventually worked as a nurse in a hospital and at the very young age of 19 delivered 18 new born babies. Eventually marring she left Oklahoma and followed her husband to California where she put her homemaking skills as she began her own family;  sewing making her girls matching dresses, tending her garden and enjoying motherhood. While her 6 children were young she moved her family to Washington following the fruit harvest where she added 1 more child to her Quiver. At 65 years of age she could still climb ladders and pick 5 bins of apples. Mom cherished her children and lived for being a mother and grandmother as well as a dear friend to so many. Mom never met a stranger and always had a kind word for anyone who felt down trodden.  She was a member of the Sunnyside free Methodist church for many years where the theatre curtain she hand sewed still hangs. Back in the day when mom and her friends attended many Bible studies and prayer chains, they earned the nickname “The God Squad” for having servants’ hearts. Mom leaves behind her daughters Mary Langford, Barbara Williams, Susie Poteet, Son Billy Williams, daughter Sybie Hunt, and son Lonnie Williams; Grandchildren Mike Langford, Jared Langford, Rachel Underwood, Jeff Close, Linda Shall, Kelly Diamond, Lori Serl, Nick Davila, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren; brother Mike Conley, sisters Martha Ayers, Judy Freeman and eleven nieces and nephews.

To her family mom was the richest woman on earth leaving the greatest inheritance to her children Introducing them all to Jesus Christ of Nazareth so that they like her can be heirs to the King and have eternal life with Him. “Go get your crown mom” and hear those words we all long to hear, well done my faithful servant enter in.
