Melba Hursh Obituary

Melba Sue Hursh June 8th 1936- May 15th 2018

Melba Sue Hursh went home to be with Jesus Tuesday evening May 15th with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. Her courage and strength during her last six month shows us just how strong of a woman she was, right up until her final rest in heaven. Born June 8th 1936 to Annie Maranda and Lester Haris in Altas, Arkansas. As a sibling of eight, Melba Sue enjoyed working on the family farm. After graduating in 1954 she moved to Coos Bay Oregon to live near her brother Preston and her sisters Mildred and Loreda. There she met Lee Hursh, the love of her life. Not long after the two were married in Coos bay and had their daughter Theresa Diane. They moved to Eugene Oregon for a short period of time in 1960 and there they had their son Randall Lee. In 1961 they moved to Outlook Washington where Melba Sue Raised her children while Lee worked at the Saw Mill in Yakima. Lee Built Melba a house that they lived in for many years.

In January of 1985 her 1st grandchild Ryan Cody Lyczewski was born. Not long after, Melba was blessed with 3 more grandchildren; Kaleb Randall Hursh, Kasey Lee Hursh and Kylie Miranda Lyczewski. The house Lee built for Melba was enjoyed by her children and grandchildren. As the years passed Melba was very involved in the Sunnyside food bank. She was a volunteer for about 10 years, then was leader of the food bank for over 6 years. She was good at her job and it kept her busy. Melba stayed active in her Church the Seven Day Adventist Church of Sunnyside by helping in the children’s ministry and in the office. Melba made many long lasting friendships while showing her love of Jesus to those around her. When she was completed with her work as a volunteer she became a great grandmother to her 1st great grandchild Amaya Lyczewski. She was then blessed with 6 more. Silas Hursh, Alexa Hursh, Rowan Lyczewski, Kiera Hursh, Xavier Holman, and Haven Holman. Melba was preceded in death by her mother Maranda Haris and her Father Lester Haris, her siblings Dean Haris, Mildred Haris, Preston Haris(Barbara), Goldie Ross, and husband Lee Hursh. Melba is survived by her siblings Loreda Yandell, and Ray Haris, daughter Theresa Lyczewski (Frank) son Randall Hursh, grandchildren Cody(Ariel), Kaleb, Kasey, Kylie (Joe), and great grandchildren Amaya, Silas, Alexa, Rowan, Kiera, Xavier, and Haven. Melba’s last years were spent with family in love and joy. Her love for her family will be dearly cherished until they meet again in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Bless their hearts.
