Pavlo Steve Datsis

Pavlo Steve Datsis, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  One of five children, Pavlo was born to Steve and Helena Datsis in Waterville, Maine on February 3, 1926.  He attended local schools and graduated from Waterville High School in 1944.  After serving in the Army in Italy for two years during WWII, he returned home, where he worked at the Datsis Hot Dog Place in Waterville. Pavlo married Doris Cormier in 1949 and had three children.  He later worked at the Waterville Post Office until retirement in 1987.

His hobbies were watching sports, growing vegetables, enjoying his dogs, and traveling to Florida and other places.  His visits with his grandchildren in Mississippi (2) and Washington State (8) were investments for which he will be fondly remembered.

Pavlo was preceded in death by his son, Keith; his parents; his sisters, Ethel Vigue and Urania “Sunny” Pomerleau; and his brother, James.  He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years; his son, Craig (Delta) of Iuka, Mississippi and their children, Leslie and Steven; his daughter, Sherrill Cover (Dwight) of Grandview, Washington and their children, Jessica Klewin (Nels), Timothy (Danielle), Samuel (Kathryn), David, Gregory, Lydia, Benjamin, and Matthias; six great-grandchildren; his brother, John (Gloria) of Winslow, Maine; and several nephews and nieces.  His final resting place will be in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Waterville, Maine.  Those wishing to sign Pavlo’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com.  Smith Funeral Home is overseeing arrangements.
