Our father was born in Medina Canatlan Durango Mexico, to Francisco Venegas Vega and Josefa Valdez Avitia.

As a young boy in grade school he excelled at track and field and was always the smartest boy at his grade level.

He remained in his home town working the land with his brothers until the fall of 1963. He immigrated to the United states, his first stop was Crystal City Texas, his father also an immigrant worked there each spring and summer. While in Crystal City someone mentioned that Yakima Chief Ranches in the state of Washington was offering contracts for the following year, he sent a request via mail.

He went back home in November of 1963, months later he received a letter from Yakima Chief Ranches accepting his request for work.

Spring of 1964 without knowing a single person, he made his trek to the Pacific Northwest.

Before leaving he made a promise to his mother that each year, He would return to see her. He worked his first season and returned to his home town in October 1964, fulfilling the promise he had made, he kept this promise through the entire life of his Mother
