Pedro Venegas Valdez September 2, 1941 – November 8, 2019
Our father was born in Medina Canatlan Durango Mexico, to Francisco Venegas Vega and Josefa Valdez Avitia.
As a young boy in grade school he excelled at track and field and was always the smartest boy at his grade level.
He remained in his home town working the land with his brothers until the fall of 1963. He immigrated to the United states, his first stop was Crystal City Texas, his father also an immigrant worked there each spring and summer. While in Crystal City someone mentioned that Yakima Chief Ranches in the state of Washington was offering contracts for the following year, he sent a request via mail.
He went back home in November of 1963, months later he received a letter from Yakima Chief Ranches accepting his request for work.
Spring of 1964 without knowing a single person, he made his trek to the Pacific Northwest.
Before leaving he made a promise to his mother that each year, He would return to see her. He worked his first season and returned to his home town in October 1964, fulfilling the promise he had made, he kept this promise through the entire life of his Mother
In January of 1967 he Married his lifetime Girlfriend Maria A. Payan Villa, October 31, 1967 they were blessed with their first child, Josefina Venegas Payan, July 24, 1971 they had their first son Pedro P Venegas Jr. and in November 21, 1974 their son Mario Venegas Payan was born.
He worked for Yakima Chief Ranches all his life until he retired in 2006.
He loved every grandchild, we would see him do things for them and with them that would amaze us.
He was loved by all his grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, nieces and nephews, he will be missed by all.
The Recitation of Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 6:00 pm at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 15, 2019 at 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Granger, WA.
