Priscilla (Pat) Castilleja, age 91, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 18, 2018 in Bellingham, Washington. She was born in Yakima, Washington and spent her early years on a farm in Sunnyside, Washington with her parents Albert and Maud (Huntington) Bishop and brother Oliver. It was there she developed her life long love of all things animal. She married David Leza Candanoza in 1949 and together had six children.
She lived most of her life in the lower Yakima Valley towns of Grandview, Prosser and Sunnyside where she worked in various positions in the local agricultural industry. She loved cooking and was renowned for fried chicken and taco feeds. After retirement she pursued her passion for fishing happy to make fishing buddies of her grandchildren. She enjoyed her brief notoriety as Grandview’s “Squirrel Lady”.
Priscilla is survived by her children, Gloria Candanoza, Carolyn Garza, David Candanoza, Colleen Niichel, Roger Candanoza, Pamela Gonzalez and beloved nephew Boyce Bishop. She enjoyed her very large extended family that includes 21 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Friday, August 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sunnyside, WA.
