Sally Orth Obituary

Sally Beth Orth, age 60, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7th, 2019 at Cottage in the Meadow in Yakima Washington, due to complications of kidney cancer. She was surrounded by her family and holding the hand of her Savior. She was an inspiration to many in her last days with an incredible peace, knowing that she was going to be with Jesus.

Sally was born January 9th, 1959 in Sunnyside, Washington to John and Jannette Van Klinken.   She enjoyed a beautiful childhood, growing up on her family’s farm and making memories in the mountains, going on road trips, and motorcycle and snowmobile adventures.  She attended Sunnyside Christian School through the 8th grade, before graduating from Prosser High School in 1977. She attended one year at Central Washington University before transferring to Western School of Floral Design. Sally returned to Grandview, Washington to marry the love of her life, her friend from 4th grade and beloved husband of 40 years, Tim Orth. Sally began a long and fulfilling career as a florist, where she blessed many with her incredible creative talents, working at City Floral, Artistic Floral and Prosser Food Depot.  After many years as a florist, she became a lab tech at Milne Fruit where, even in a lab, she was known for her creativity. Sally retired in 2012 to focus on her greatest endeavor, being the world’s best grandma. She always had a huge heart for babies and children, and spent her retirement loving and spoiling her grandkids and great nieces well. She also enjoyed camping, feeding birds and squirrels, visits to the beach, pretty fall trees, flowers, and reading. She could identify every bird and flower in Washington and was always the first to spot deer on every drive. She was a longtime member of the Christian Reformed Church and the local Beta Sigma Phi sorority.

Sally was a beautiful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, who will be remembered for her sweet smile, contagious laughter, gentle strength, creativity, humility, and endearing love for family, friends, and those she had never met. She is survived by her husband, Tim Orth; daughters, Sarah Elliott (Steven), Miranda Miller (Jeremy); grandchildren, Justin Miller, Jason Miller, Ethan Elliott, Aislynn Elliott, Avery Elliott, and Jeremiah Miller; her brother Tim Van Klinken (Karen) and her sister Julia Myers (Lindley). She is preceded in death by her father, John Van Klinken; and mother Jannette Van Klinken.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22nd 2019 at 10:00am at the Church of the Nazarene, Grandview, WA. Sally had a kind and generous heart with a knack for blessing others by quietly giving the perfect gifts when they were most needed. If you would like to honor Sally, consider paying it forward with small, quiet acts of kindness. In lieu of flowers, she requested that donations be made to Cottage in the Meadow, hospice care in Yakima, Washington. She and her family greatly appreciated the wonderful care received at Valley Memorial Hospital and Cottage in the Meadow. Those wishing to sign Sally’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com Smith Funeral Homes in care of arrangements.
