Shirley Mae Hanson Call age 76, passed away on Oct. 3rd 2019 at Good Smaritian Care Center in Yakima, WA. Shirley was born on Sept. 30th 1943 in Toppenish, WA to Levi and Margret Hanson. She was the youngest of four children. She attended school in Sunnyside, WA. Shirley married Richard Call in Nov. 1967. They made their home in Sunnyside WA where she delivered the Tri-City Herald paper for 37 years until August 2009 due to having multiple strokes. Shirley always had a big heart and shared her smile with everyone she met. She made friends easily with her caring personality. She enjoyed the activity of puzzles, listening to the Beatles, painting at Parkside Nursing Home, collecting cookbooks, and taking her grandchildren to McDonalds to collect the Happy Meal Toys. She loved her pets dearly taking care in their well-being and enjoying the company of Mitsy and her cats Angel and Callie. She welcomed all strays and fed any stray that came along. Shirley had a nurturing nature she loved to garden and grow lots of flowers from roses to daffodils. Her favorite holiday was Christmas with getting to spend time with her family and friends.
Shirley is survived by four children, Freddie Call of Moxee, WA, Donald Call, wife Tammy of Yakima, WA, Sherry Weddle, husband Richard of Yakima,WA, Kathy Wright, husband Norman of Vancouver, WA. She always had a special place in her heart for Her 11 grandchildren Lynn Call, Jennifer Call, Nicholas Call, Karl Richelderfer, Bryan Call, Whitney Nugent, Daryn Call, Chad John, Brandy Warner, Kristen Knorr, and Tiffany Jackson. Her eyes always lit up when she got to see her great grandchildren Shayla Long, Holley Nugent, Shelby Nugent, Kara Richelderfer, Kayson Richelderfer, Sofia VanZant, Blake Call, Deegan John, Drayven John. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in Death by her husband Richard Call, parents Levi and Margaret Hanson, brother Ernest and Earl Hanson, sister Margret Minton, she also had a son Ricky Call who died at 3 months of age from SIDS.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA with burial to follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens. Sunnyside, WA.
