William "Bill" Stott Obituary

William “Bill” F. Stott, age 79, formerly of Prosser passed away Sunday December 2, 2018 at his home in Tucson, Arizona. Bill was born in Waterliet, New York on September 7, 1939 to his parents William & Helen Stott. After high school Bill and his brother, Ron, joined the United States Marine Corp in 1956. After serving in the marines, Bill moved to San Jose, California area to get a degree at San Jose Community College (and to be closer to his favorite Aunt Gert). It is also where he met his first wife, Helen O’Leary. While in California, Bill started his life off in the pipefitting union and also owned a restaurant and bar. With that success and happiness brought three children: Bill Jr., Debbie, and Patty. In 1974, Bill saw an opportunity to raise his kids in the “country”, so they moved to Prosser, WA where they brought a small farm outside of town. To pay for those farming habits, Bill joined the Local 598 Pipefitters Union and worked many years until retiring, and moving in to town. With more free time on his hands, Bill & Helen opened and ran the local candy and ice cream shop for many years until they parted paths. With time, Bill remarried Angela Heisler for a short period. Bill then moved to Tucson, AZ to pursue a warmer and healthier climate and lived there until passing. Bill was strongly involved in the Catholic Church and loved helping to run the local “Toys for Tots” drive, and loved helping veterans in any way he could. Bill loved cooking, canning, and gardening; and had a huge spot in his heart for his dogs. Bill is preceded in passing by his parents William and Helen Stott, (brother) Ron Stott, (sister) Marsha Rhoades, and (daughter) Debbie Stott-Veloz. He is survived by his (brother) Jimmy Stott, (sister) Karen Stott Manion, (son) Bill “Billy” Stott Jr., (daughter) Patty Stafford & Leon, (step daughters) Megan Bridgman & Diana Schreckaise, (grandchildren) Brian Stott, Deborah Baggerly, Leon Stafford 3rd, Reanne Grager, and numerous nieces and nephew and many great grandchildren.
