Yvonne Casteel Wilbur age 100, passed away on October 6, 2018 surrounded by her family and friends while celebrating her 100th birthday. She was born October 6, 1918 at Pyatt, AR. to Ann Sharp and Henry Casteel. The family lived in White River AR. and went to school in Advance, AR.
In the early 30’s the family moved to Lone Rock, AR. where they met the Wilbur family. They had 3 sons Troy being the youngest whom I married on April 24, 1937 in the United Methodist Church in Cotter, AR. Our son Wayne Max was born on October 5, 1938. Troy and I have spent a life time loving and saying Thank You! In 1945 Troy and I came to Washington State, where we made our home in the Lower Valley, both Sunnyside and Prosser at various times.
Yvonne’s employment included working at Safeway for 31 years, owning and operating a ceramic shop out of her home, volunteering at a local nursing home for 15 years and she was a reading assistant at Washington School in Mrs. Gant’s room for over 12 years.
The greatest gift in our lives was our family. Wayne having married Linda was so precious, after 37 years Linda passed away. We love our granddaughter, Tami who has always been the greatest in every way. Wayne later married Rose.
After 69 years of marriage and Troy’s passing in 2007 I moved to Yakima near my family and was blessed in so many ways.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her dear spouse Troy and son Wayne.
There will be a Graveside service on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to sign Yvonne’s online memorial may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com Smith Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
