Agustin Pacheco Obituary

Agustín Flores Pacheco age 68 of Sunnyside, WA, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in Sunnyside, WA.  Agustín was born August 28, 1956, in Uruapan, Michoacán, México and is the son of Rafael and Guadalupe (Flores) Pacheco. In 1961 his family immigrated to the United States and worked as migrant farmworkers along the West Coast Migrant Circuit until they set roots in Outlook, WA in 1971.  Agustín was the first of his family to complete high school while working as a farmworker, he graduated with the Sunnyside class of 1976. He participated in the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) where he continued his education and ultimately received his master’s degree in education from the University of Washington. Agustín worked as a Teacher and a Principal for over 30 years in Southern California, he retired from Keppel Union School District in 2021. He enjoyed coaching various sports teams throughout his career. Though he did not have children of his own, he was considered a mentor by many of his students and was known for being strict. Many of his students would seek him out years later to thank him for this. In a similar fashion, he is responsible for motivating the next generation of his family to seek higher education and to enter fulfilling careers, he also was always there to support his siblings and their families through hardships and moments of transition because they supported him when he was struggling to complete his education. Agustín moved from California to Sunnyside after he retired to be closer to his family and care for his elderly mother. Most recently, he enjoyed reading to his nieces and nephews and cheering them on at their sporting events and at family gatherings.

Agustín is survived by his Mother Guadalupe Pacheco, Olivia Cardenas (Bernardo Garcia) his niece whom he lovingly called his daughter, his siblings Eva Madrigal (Tomas), Daniel Pacheco (Carol), Martín Pacheco (Sonia), Margarita Cornwell (James), María Pacheco, José Pacheco and Jesús Pacheco (Ermelinda Gonzalez). He is survived by close family friends Juan Gonzalez (Becky) and Samuel Ramos. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.  He is preceded in death by his father Rafael Pacheco, sister María Luisa Pacheco, niece Malinda Cardenas, brother-in-law John Cardenas and Uncle Jesus Pacheco.
