Allen Ashley Obituary

Allen L. Ashley, age 93, of Grandview, WA. passed away at his home on May 19th, 2026, surrounded by family.

Allen was born at home to Charles and Fidelia Ashley on February 3rd, 1933, in Grandview, WA. He was one of seven children: Keith, Charles, Paul, Mary Doris, Edith Wierman, and Lois Crawford.

Allen was one of a kind. He was an outstanding man who meant the world to his family. He was a symbol of strength and perseverance to many. He became home for many of the family members. He built a life he enjoyed doing what he loved, including riding his 4-wheeler, baking cookies and pies with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren on holidays, and working a large garden. Although a man of few words, he occasionally said "I love you" and gave kisses when prodded. He truly will be missed by all.

As a young man, he was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Boy Scouts.

He married Rose Marie Meachem in 1952 and went on to have 6 children: Pamela Kay, Lynn Aston, Allen B Ashley (Belinda), David, Jerry, and Fred (Terra)

He graduated from Grandview High School in 1951, lettering in 3 sports. He joined the Bremerton Navy Yard, where he began his apprenticeship as a machinist. He was drafted into the army in 1953, where he served in the Korean War until 1955 as a truck driver and then as a cook. After his discharge, he returned to the navy yard. He moved back to Grandview in 1960, where he worked for General Electric as a Machinist at Hanford for several years. He also had jobs at Western Sintering, Columbia Machine Co. (Comco), Twin City Foods, and others. He eventually started his own business as a machinist and ran his cherry farm.

He is survived by his former wife (Rose Marie), 5 of his children, 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Pamela Kay (daughter), Savannah (granddaughter), several nieces and nephews.

A special thank-you to Angela Ashley for her care of Grandpa and the farm.
