Anthony Abbott Obituary

Anthony Ames Abbott, age 82, of Grandview, WA passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2024 with family be his side.  Anthony was born on June 5, 1942 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Clara Mae (Hegy) and Archibald E. Abbott.   Anthony received his education in the Seattle, WA area and graduated from West Seattle High School.  Following his education Anthony served in the United States Coast Guard.  After returning home from serving his country Anthony went to the Police Academy.   On September 1,  1967,  he married Lillan Mary Moberly.  Anthony was a police officer for the City of Mabton, a volunteer fire fighter for the city of Grandview and worked for the Grandview School district as a janitor.  In his spare time Anthony enjoyed fishing, collecting Eagles and Indian Figurines.  He also collected old cars for years and loved to travel so see family in Iowa, Alaska and Oregon.   Anthony was a member of the Prosser Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He is survived by his wife, Colleen Abbott of Grandview, WA.  One daughter, Frances Breitenstein ( Marcas) of Arizona, son Aaron Ames of WA.  He is also survived by three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Mary. 

Viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Prosser, WA. with service to follow at 10:00 a.m.  A burial will follow at the East Prosser Cemetery, Prosser, WA.  Those wishing to sign Anthony’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com   Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
