Barbara Sharon Brotherton was born May 19, 1933 to John and Helen (Cash) Lindsey in Truman, AK. She went home to be with the Lord on November 4th, 2023, in Sunnyside, WA, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Her life covered many miles and people. She never missed and opportunity to share her testimony about the love of Christ. She was a loving wife and mother, but also teacher, mentor, preacher’s wife, and excellent friend to all who came into contact with her.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Don Brotherton Sr. and her two sons, Don Brotherton Jr. (Paula) and Ron Brotherton. She was preceded in death by parents and siblings, Tom Lindsey and Alfred Lindsey.
Barbara married Don on April 12, 1952 in Springfield MO. and shortly there after moved to Washington with Don’s parents Peck and Loraine Brotherton.
She had many jobs in and around Grandview her younger years, but mostly it was raising her children, which came along quickly. But after 13 years the family moved to Portland OR. where Don went to Multnomah School of the Bible to become a minister.
While in Portland she worked for the Billy Graham Ministries as a secretary from 1967 to 1968 where she introduced her family to Billy Graham and George Beverly Shea.
After graduation in 1969 the family moved to Davenport IA. Where their first church was, and she worked in the church as a Sunday School teacher and a pastor’s wife leading many women’s Bible study. And many women to the Lord.
After five years another move, this time to Kokomo IN, where she started all over again, teacher, pastor’s wife, women’s Bible studies. Then three years later a move back to Grandview.
This time she went to work for Jack Kimbrough as a secretary, but not for very long. After getting her realtor’s license she worked for Kimbroughs and associates for 20 years. As one of their leading agents up until her retirement.
