Barbara "Bobbie" Hazzard Obituary

On Monday, January 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, Barbara “Bobbie” Theresa Hazzard passed away peacefully, welcomed home by her Heavenly Father and her one true love, Lloyd Eugene Hazzard.

Bobbie was born on January 30, 1932, in Prosser, Washington, to Frank and Kathrina (Zimmerman) Lyczewski. She grew up in Prosser, graduated with the Prosser High School Class of 1950, and remained deeply connected to her roots and her faith throughout her life. As a young woman, Bobbie attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she sang alto or soprano with her brothers and sisters during Sunday Mass and special holiday celebrations, memories she always held close to her heart.

She married the love of her life, Lloyd Eugene Hazzard, and together they built a home filled with faith, laughter, and deep care for others. Bobbie devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising their children and caring for her family, always placing their needs before her own.

Once their youngest son, Tony, began first grade, Bobbie started working for the Sunnyside School District in Food Service. She took great pride in her work and was known for her kindness, dedication, and strong work ethic. Before retiring in 1990, she served several years as a supervisor, a role she approached with the same care and commitment she gave to every part of her life.

Even in retirement, Bobbie never stopped caring for others. She lovingly helped care for her sister and many other family members along the way. She was an active and devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and helped with countless funeral dinners, always giving quietly and selflessly.

Bobbie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved crocheting afghans for her children and making hundreds of potholders that she happily shared as gifts for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and other special occasions. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, fishing, and spending time in her yard and garden. Family gatherings were especially dear to her heart, and anyone who stopped by for a visit knew they would hear everything about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was endlessly proud of each and every one of them.

She also found happiness in feeding and watching squirrels, often sitting and smiling as she observed their playful antics. One of her favorite moments was spotting a rare piebald squirrel (Grandpa Squirrel) visiting her feeder, a small but meaningful joy that brought her genuine delight.

Bobbie leaves behind her children: Danny Fox (Jan), Lloyd Hazzard (Sheila), Barbara Bos (Dennis), Vickie Koreski (Mark), Karen Clark, Steve Hazzard (Debbie), and Tony Hazzard (Nancy); along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, sisters-in-law Cecilia Miller, Jackie Poe, Margie Thrift (Jim), Shirley Hazzard, and her brother-in-law Lyle Anderson (Mary Lou).

She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Frank and Kathrina Lyczewski; her beloved husband, Lloyd “Gene” Hazzard; her great-grandson, Owen James Hazzard; her brothers Arnold and Mathew Lyczewski; and her sisters Melvina Berg and Mathilda “Tillie” Owen.
