Basilio Ruiz-Torres, age 76, passed away in Sunnyside, WA. on November 3, 2021. He was born June 14, 1945 in El Llano Nayarit, Mexico to Santos Ruiz and Maximilliana Torres-Aguirre. Basilio was raised by his step-father Francisco Pena in El Espino, Nayarit, Mexico. On January 25, 1965, in San Blas Nayarit, Mexico he married Victoriana Guzman and together they began their new life together. Basilio was a dedicated and hardworking man who provided for and loved his family. Often if you visited him after he came home from work you would catch him lying in his hammock watching his beautiful grandkids. Throughout his life, Basilio and Victoriana were dedicated members of the Catholic Church.
Basilio is survived by his loving wife Victoriana Ruiz-Guzman, children Maria M. Ruiz and David Garcia of Grandview, WA., Victorino Ruiz-Guzman of Nayarit, Mexico, Gerardo Ruiz-Guzman and Rosario Huecias of Tijuana, Mexico, Angel Ruiz-Guzman of Mabton, WA., Jose Santos Ruiz-Guzman and Brenda Ruiz of Arizona, WA., Modesta Ruiz and Ricardo Herrera of Grandview, WA, Bacilio Ruiz-Guzman and Elvira Ruiz of Grandview, WA., Faustino Ruiz-Guzman of Mabton, WA., Horacio Ruiz Herrera and Anabel Ruiz of Mabton, WA. and Ana Ruiz of Mabton WA. He is also survived by 35 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, along with his siblings Emma Pena, Feliz Pena, Reyna Pena, Guadalupe Pena, Arcadio Pena and Abel Pena. Basilio is preceded in death by his parents Maximilliana Torres and Santos Ruiz, Step-father Francisco Pena and his brother Pablo Ruiz.
A viewing and visitation will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sunnyside with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prosser, WA. with burial to follow at East Prosser Cemetery in Prosser, WA.
