Bobby Jones Obituary

Bobby “Joe” Jones, aged 91, passed away on October 24, 2024, in Kennewick, WA. Born on October 15, 1933, Joe was a man of integrity, known for his few but impactful words, his hard work, and his deep love for his family and the Lord.

Joe dedicated 18 years as a foreman on a fruit ranch in Grandview and then served the Sunnyside Valley Irrigation District for about 33 years until his retirement at age 62. His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his faith, actively participating in the Grandview Church of Christ.

His personal life was enriched by his hobbies, which included walking two miles daily, playing pool at the Senior Center in Prosser, bowling in leagues in Sunnyside, tending to his vegetable garden every summer, and following the Mariners baseball games fervently.

Joe leaves behind his loving wife, Mary Ilene Lunyou-Jones; children, Anthony Joe Jones (Nyla), Serena Louise Jones-Sweeney (David), Cynthia Marie Jones-Steelman, Lisa Bonita Jones-Engelen; step-children, John Sanders (Rose), Danny Sanders (Nancy), Julia Sanders-Ackerman (Bill); seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Wanda Fisher (Roger) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Shirley Grimes of Batesville, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Faye Pierce-Jones, his parents, Andrew Jackson Jones and Maude Hodges Jones, two brothers, and four sisters.
