Cecil L Bronkhorst

Cecil Bronkhorst went to be with his lord and savior on May 27,2022 with his wife Jennie and Bill and Gloria Mandrell by his side. Cecil was born in Sunnyside, Wa December 27, 1945 to Delbert and Dorothy Bronkhorst. He was the first of 4 children, an only son and a little cowboy. Cecil met and married the love of his life Jennie Mae Brown February 6, 1970 in Sunnyside, Wa. Cecil graduated from Sunnyside high school in 1965. He enlisted in the Army in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1970. Cecil worked from 1966 to 1976 at Jerry’s Steel Supply and also worked at the Circle L gas station from 1966 to 1969. From 1976 to 2006 Cecil and Jennie were owner operators of Country Garbage. For 6 years Cecil managed the solid waste department of Mabton. Cecil was very mechanically minded and could fix anything. He loved metal working. Cecil created beautiful landscaping. He loved playing his guitar and telling jokes and stories. Cecil and Jennie worked hard together throughout their lives. They retired and traveled to Arizona to enjoy the winter and came back to the valley for the summer. They made and had many friends and that was Cecil's treasure. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Jennie, his mother Dorothy, his sister Cindy (Melvin) Thompson, sister Maria (David) Hill. He is preceded in death by his dad Delbert Bronkhorst and sister Dawn Kinsey also many family members and friends. Cecil said “ It was a great marriage, I Flew like an eagle, Jennie was the wind beneath my wings.”

Graveside services with military honors will be held June 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Lower Valley Memorial Gardens,  Sunnyside, WA.  Those wishing to sign Cecil’s online memorial book may do so at www.funeralhomesmith.com   Smith Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
